I’m finding it very useful to return to the typographic nude theme as I continue to explore what is behind those boundaries that have shaped us. As with all my nudes, the edges are sharp, holding their form against each other, so how can this edge be altered? Why not actually cut the edge and look behind or into the painting? Yes I cut the canvas!
By painting the back of the painting also and peeling a portion of the canvas over itself, the wood frame becomes vulnerable. As vulnerable as one becomes as we look behind our own boundaries.
